Privacy Policy

Last updated

i365.fun is a reading site, not an account service. There is no sign-in, no registration, no newsletter and no contact form. We ask you for nothing, and the limited information described below comes from serving a page, from analytics you choose to allow, or from an email you choose to send.

This policy explains what is collected, why, on what legal basis, who else sees it, how long it is kept, and what you can do about it. It applies worldwide. Where the law of your country gives you stronger rights than this policy describes, those rights prevail.

Cookies and the analytics choice are described in more detail on the cookies page. This page is about information rather than about the files that carry it.

Who is responsible

The controller — the operator responsible for the processing described here — is the publisher of i365.fun. You can reach the controller at support@i365.fun for any privacy question, request or complaint.

Microsoft is the provider of the analytics service described below. It processes that data under its own privacy statement and may act as an independent controller for its own purposes. We do not control Microsoft's independent processing; its privacy statement describes it.

The short version

  • No account and no profile held by us. We do not ask for your name, address, phone number or date of birth, and there is nothing to sign in to.
  • No analytics until you allow it. Microsoft Clarity is not requested at all until you press “Allow analytics”. If you reject, or your browser sends a privacy signal, it never loads.
  • The host sees the request. Like every website, serving a page requires the hosting provider to receive your IP address, user agent and the page address. Those logs are used for security and diagnostics, not for advertising.
  • No sale, and no advertising. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. There are no advertising cookies on the site.

What we collect and why

The list is short because the site is short: four categories, and only one of them is optional.

Requests and server logs
When your browser asks for a page, the hosting provider (Netlify) necessarily receives your IP address, user agent, the page address and the time of the request. Those logs are used to deliver the page, prevent abuse, diagnose faults and keep the site available. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure and working site. The logs are kept under Netlify's retention schedule, not ours.
Analytics you allow
If you allow analytics, Microsoft Clarity records interaction data: page address, referrer, clicks, scroll depth, pointer movement, session replays, heatmaps, and device and browser information. It also assigns a pseudonymous identifier so pages can be linked into one visit. The purpose is to understand which pages are useful. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Clarity's records are retained by Microsoft: recordings for up to 30 days, with a small sample and favourites retained for up to 9 months.
Email you send us
If you email support@i365.fun, we receive your email address and whatever you write, including any attachments. We use it to reply, correct an article, answer a rights request or deal with a complaint. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to you, or consent where the law requires it, or compliance with a legal obligation. We keep correspondence only as long as needed to deal with the matter, then delete it unless it is needed for a legal claim.
Choices stored on your device
Your colour theme and your cookie choice are stored in your browser's localStorage — not in a cookie, and not transmitted to us. They are used only to remember your choices. Clearing your browser storage removes them.

What we do not collect

  • No account, password, profile or sign-in data.
  • No name, postal address, phone number or date of birth.
  • No payment card or bank details — the site is free and sells nothing.
  • No precise geolocation. Microsoft may derive an approximate location from an IP address as part of Clarity; we do not ask for your location.
  • No advertising identifiers of our own, and no advertising profile.
  • No special category data (such as health, religion, ethnicity or political opinions) is requested or knowingly collected.
  • No user-generated content — there is nowhere on the site to post anything.

If you send personal information to us in an email, we hold what you chose to send, for the purpose of dealing with your message. Please do not send sensitive information unless it is necessary for your request.

Lawful bases

For readers in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR / UK GDPR) for Microsoft Clarity analytics and the cookies it sets. You can withdraw consent at any time from the cookie settings; withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before it.
  • Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) in keeping the site secure, available and free of abuse, and in responding to correspondence. We have considered your rights and freedoms and concluded that this processing is proportionate; you can object using the contact address below.
  • Legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)) where we are required to retain or disclose something by law, including in response to a valid legal request or to protect legal rights.

Where consent is the basis, you are never required to give it to read the site. Rejecting analytics does not restrict your access to any article.

Who receives information

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with service providers that are necessary to run the site, and only for the purposes described here:

Microsoft
Clarity analytics, session recording and heatmaps — only if you allow analytics. Microsoft receives the page address, interaction data and the cookies described on the cookies page. It may act as an independent controller for its own processing.
Netlify
Hosting and content delivery. Netlify receives every request to i365.fun — including your IP address and user agent, which are necessary to return a page — and keeps standard access logs.
Cloudflare
Object storage for article images. If a page contains an image, your browser connects to Cloudflare's storage domain (cdn.i365.fun) to fetch it. No cookies are set on that connection.
Our email provider
If you email us, your message is handled by the provider that operates the support@i365.fun mailbox, under its own terms and security arrangements.

We may also disclose information where we are required to do so by law, by a court or regulator, or where disclosure is necessary to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim, to protect someone's safety, or to investigate fraud or abuse. If a transfer of the site's operation requires it, information may be transferred to a successor operator, subject to this policy.

International transfers

The providers above operate in the United States and other countries. That means information may be processed outside your country, including outside the EEA or the UK. Where that happens, the providers state that they use appropriate safeguards — such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, and, where applicable, certification under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. You can ask us for more detail about the safeguards using the contact address below.

How long information is kept

  • Server logs: under Netlify's retention schedule, which is short and set by our hosting configuration.
  • Clarity data: recordings for up to 30 days, and a small sample and favourites for up to 9 months, under Microsoft's retention policy. Withdrawing consent stops future recording.
  • Email correspondence: for as long as needed to deal with the matter, then deleted unless needed for a legal claim or a legal obligation.
  • Device storage: until you clear it or change your choice. The consent record is replaced when you make a new choice.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights. We honour them worldwide to the extent the law requires, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising them.

If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have the right to: access a copy of your personal data; have inaccurate data corrected; have data erased; restrict or object to processing; receive your data in a portable format; withdraw consent at any time; and not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that produces legal or similarly significant effects. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. We would ask you to contact us first so we can try to resolve it.

If you are in California, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, used or disclosed; to delete it; to correct it; to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; to limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information; and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not collect sensitive personal information. We honour Global Privacy Control as an opt-out signal. You may use an authorised agent to make a request, subject to verification.

Elsewhere, we will consider requests made under your local law, including access, correction, deletion and objection rights. If a right does not apply to the limited processing described here, we will explain why.

How to make a request

Email support@i365.fun with enough detail for us to understand the request and locate anything relevant — for example, the email address you used and the page or date concerned. Because the site has no accounts, we may need to ask you for information to verify that a request relates to you; we will ask for no more than is necessary.

We aim to respond within one month for requests under the GDPR or UK GDPR (extendable by two further months for complex requests), and within 45 days for requests under the CCPA/CPRA (extendable by a further 45 days). We will tell you if we need more time. There is normally no fee.

If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to your local data protection authority or, in California, to the California Privacy Protection Agency. You can also contact us first — we would rather fix the problem.

Your choices

The main choice is whether the site measures how you use it. You can allow or reject Microsoft Clarity from the cookie settings, and change your mind at any time. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, analytics stays off regardless of any earlier choice. The cookies page sets out every route, including blocking the script and Microsoft's own opt-out.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Access to its systems and provider accounts is restricted, and the site holds no accounts or passwords to breach. We choose providers that maintain their own security programmes. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your information has been compromised through this site, contact us immediately.

Children

The site is a general-audience publication and is not directed at children. It is intended for readers aged 16 or over; anyone younger should use it only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. There are no accounts, no messaging and nowhere to submit content, so there is no child account to create.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 16. If you believe a child has sent personal information to us, contact support@i365.fun and we will delete it. Clarity is not intended for websites or apps aimed at under-18 audiences; this site is a general news publication and does not target that audience.

Automated decisions, and how articles are produced

We do not use personal data to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you, and we do not profile readers for advertising. The only automated processing is the analytics described above, which is aggregate and is not used to decide anything about an individual.

Articles are produced with the assistance of automated tools as part of an editorial workflow, including automated research, drafting and quality checks. Those tools can make mistakes, which is one reason nothing on the site is professional advice and why the terms disclaim reliance. We do not use reader data to train AI models.

Changes to this policy

If anything changes that affects what is collected or why, this page will be updated before the change goes live, and the date at the top will change with it. If a change requires a new consent decision, the consent record's version number will change too, and you will be asked again rather than having an old answer stretched over a new purpose. As long as the date at the top is unchanged, nothing above has changed.
